St Bartholomew’s School

The Brief:

To design and install a robust and appropriate projection and lighting solution, backed by a support and maintenance package to meet the needs of the drama department, diverse teaching requirements across the school and signage and branding for St Bartolomew’s School, a leading secondary school in Newbury, Berkshire, operating in the State education sector.

The process:

RaceTech completed a detailed Tender to include integration with legacy systems and a systematic review of original specifications and solutions, leading to a proposal of revised audio visual, projection and lighting solutions for core teaching spaces and the main hall within a £35m new build as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Consultation with the client and a “Value Engineering” exercise was required together with utilisation of legacy equipment, much of which RaceTech AV refurbished. This was required in order to fit a budget which was drastically reduced mid-way through the main project build.

The Solution

This project has been phased to include:
• IP & Cat 6 connectivity
• Lighting and dimmer channels and rigging
• Lighting for main hall & studio
• Sound & Public Address
• Reinforced sound and assisted listening
• Projection & control solutions with multi-source input and panel control
• Talk Back and mixing capability

Having won this highly competitive bid through a competitive tender process and as a direct result of the demonstrable experience that RaceTech AV could prove in both the solutions design and delivery cycle, the CEO of West Berkshire Council, and the Board of the Prime Contractor, Willmott Dixon have been keen for RaceTech AV to engage in closer working relationships with them both for future projects which has led to acoustic engineering consultancy for the council as part of their consolidated building project.

“RaceTech have proved to be totally reliable, and expert in their field and have always provided excellent value at every stage of our engagements. I look forward to a long lasting relationship and continued engagement in our AV and Technology needs.”
