RaceTech AV is EMEA InAVation Awards Finalist

RaceTech AV has recently been shortlisted for the prestigious InAVation Awards Finals. This European wide competition recognises innovation, creativity and excellence in design and delivery of AV solutions, across a broad spectrum of industries and rewards those solutions that deliver against commercial and creative benchmarks.

Ordnance Survey, Great Britain’s national mapping agency, has developed a state of the art HQ on 16 acres of land at Southampton’s Adanac Park for its 1100 workforce. Known as Explorer House, the £42m project has consolidated all its satellite businesses into one, environmentally sympathetic building. In addition to its open plan design, with cashless vending, unique ID phones etc the Government agency’s willingness to push boundaries is also reflected in its advanced AV systems.

The development required almost three years of meticulous planning as Ordnance Survey scheduled a phased move from the building they had previously occupied for 40 years. The first incumbents took up occupancy in October 2010 and the site was fully operational by February 2011. The official opening was performed by HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, in October 2011. The overall cost of the project was £42 million and the value of the AV contract was initially in the order of £220,000 and has grown significantly since this.  Around 100 companies responded to the OJEU tender, with RaceTech AV providing the winning bid for AV services.

The major equipment suppliers included:

° Christie – projection equipment

° Extron – control switching

° Smart – collaboration solutions

° Crestron – building control and room booking

° Bose – Audio reinforcement and performance sound

° Tannoy – Meeting room sound

° Da-Lite – in ceiling drop down projection screens
